Additional items, including a panga and slippers, were also recovered near the carcass.

“The findings form a central part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of death and the identification of those involved, with a view to prosecuting them in accordance with the law,” a UWA spokesperson said.

UWA has informed the Kasese Police, and both agencies are conducting a joint investigation.

Authorities are examining the evidence collected at the scene and following up on intensive leads.

The wildlife authority urged the public to support conservation efforts by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities that may endanger wildlife or undermine protection initiatives.

The investigation aims to establish whether the lion deaths were caused by poisoning or other illegal acts, with authorities committed to prosecuting anyone found responsible.
